FINNEAS originally wrote 'Ocean Eyes' for his band, the Slightlys, but realized the song would be a better fit for his younger sister Billie's voice. The opportunity arose when their dance teacher Fred Diaz at the Revolution Dance Center on Honolulu Avenue in Los Angeles asked them to write a song for choreography. FINNEAS taught Billie the song and they sang it together to his guitar. As Billie later recalled, 'It was stuck in my head for weeks.'

Written and produced by her brother FINNEAS using nothing but Logic Pro stock sounds and a budget microphone, 'Ocean Eyes' turned a 13-year-old's SoundCloud upload into a viral sensation.
