Bad Girls

Donna Summer co-wrote 'Bad Girls' with Bruce Sudano, Eddie Hokenson, and Joe Esposito, all three of whom were members of Brooklyn Dreams, a vocal group that frequently collaborated with her. The song grew from sessions for the Bad Girls double album — Summer's most ambitious project with producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, who by 1978–79 had relocated their base of operations from Munich to the United States.

Released in April 1979, 'Bad Girls' paired Summer's commanding vocal with a funk-edged Moroder groove and the unforgettable 'toot toot, beep beep' refrain. Co-written with Bruce Sudano, Eddie Hokenson, and Joe Esposito of Brooklyn Dreams, it became the second of Summer's three number one singles in a single calendar year — a feat no female artist had achieved before. The double album it headlined went platinum and topped the Billboard 200.
