During the recording sessions for Led Zeppelin IV at Headley Grange, the band was struggling with multiple takes of 'Four Sticks.' During a break, John Bonham began playing the drum introduction from Little Richard's 'Keep A-Knockin',' and Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones spontaneously joined in. The jam quickly took shape, and within about 15 minutes the band had laid down the basic track that would become 'Rock and Roll.'

Opening with one of the most iconic drum intros in rock history, 'Rock and Roll' captures Led Zeppelin at their most exuberant and unrestrained.
