This stark contrast between the chord-driven buildup and the single-chord drop is precisely what gives the track its explosive impact on the dancefloor.

Martin Garrix produced Animals while still a teenager, crafting the track around a distinctive synth lead melody that would become one of the most iconic riffs in EDM history. The production drew on the big room house sound that was dominating European festival circuits at the time.
