According to D12 member Kuniva, Bizarre initially recorded a verse on the track, but the group felt his contribution was too extreme and encouraged him to tone it down. Dr. Dre actually approved Bizarre's version — telling him to keep it — but Bizarre deferred to the group and passed on the record. Eminem then picked it up and wrote his own verses, turning it into one of the most personal compositions of his career.
